1992 ** The De Venoge Grand Vin Des Princes (100% chardonnay) is very well regarded from this vintage.

1907 Not a great vintage year, but a remarkable one, in that a cargo vessel carrying Heidsieck Monopole Goût Americaine 1907 Champagne to Russia was torpedoed by a U-boat in 1916. Several hundred bottles remained on board the sunken ship at the bottom of the Baltic Sea until recovered by divers in 1998. This wine is apparently fantastic. As indeed it should be, given the price it acheived at auction - £2000 a bottle!
